Birds Hill Week

Once again this year we trekked to Birds Hill Provincial Park. This year however, we went during Ty's and Amy's Birthday. The first night there we had quite the Thunder Storm with an amazing light show. The phone and radio kept repeating 100km winds and large hail were heading our way. Winnipeg had the power go out in several areas...We had intense lighting with almost little to no wind. The girls were terrified and stayed in the van. Poor girls. After that, the weather was considerably better. We celebrated Ty's birthday with a little cake after the supper the first night. He got some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on vehicles and a new TNT movie. Boy he is easily satisfied. Friday we ventured out to Grand Beach for a full day of hot, hot sun. It was Amy's Birthday this day. The beach was wonderful. We celebrated Amy's birthday with a cake and Kristen and Amy went on an evening horseback trail ride. They did wonderfully. It took a little convincing for Amy to be OK, but in the end Amy had her horse galloping. In the park, there was no shortage of deer. Unbelievable. Every corner you turned, you ran into deer. Even one morning when Shawn took the dog for a walk. Lots of newborn fawns around. There was even a bear spotted on one of the horse trail rides the evening before our girls went. Good thing I only heard that after they went for there ride. The beach was awesome as always. Ty loved the water and sand. It's hard to believe that only 1 year ago, you couldn't even get Ty to touch sand. He hated it. He loved the water and had no fear. I usually put his life jacket on well before we saw the water because once he saw it....he didn't wait for anyone. He ran in full force. We all loved waking up to the warmth of the sun. The picture of Amy is on her birthday morning. A little tired from the night before. The park had a huge camp fire complete with a band. You couldn't go to bed before midnight because you could hear them from quite the distance away. All in all, it was a great week. No TV....YEAH! I didn't even miss it. For the most part, quite and peaceful is how I would sum up our week.
